About Julia

My name is Julia Moffitt, I am a physiologist and ultrarunner passionate about empowering women to reach their full potential, especially during menopause.

My journey into endurance sports started later in life, revealing the profound impact physical activity can have on both body and mind.

Nine years ago, I set out to qualify for the Western States Endurance Run, the world’s oldest and most prestigious 100-mile foot race. In 2024, after nearly a decade of perseverance, I crossed that finish line, solidifying my belief in resilience, determination, and informed strategy.

With a PhD in Physiology and over 25 years of experience as an academic researcher, administrator, and now medical writer, I offer evidence-based strategies that help women reclaim their health and thrive during menopause.

I’ve been there, and I understand the challenges of finding the right path forward. That’s why I’m committed to helping women of all abilities defy societal expectations and thrive.

When I’m not speaking, you’ll find me on the trails with my Trail Sisters running community or exploring the latest research on women’s health. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I believe in authenticity and inclusivity in all aspects of life.

Trailblazing through menopause: A roadmap for endurance and empowerment

Most people with ovaries will spend a third of their lives navigating menopause and its aftermath, yet resources and guidance are scarce.

Society often paints a picture of a 'golden girl' fading into the sunset—a future many of us reject. I certainly did. At 45, I set out to qualify for and complete the Western States Endurance Run, one of the toughest 100-mile ultramarathons in the world.

As a physiologist, I understood how the body adapts to training, but my biggest challenge was learning to train and manage life while going through menopause. While your goals may differ from mine, I’ll share specific strategies to harness physical activity as a powerful tool to navigate this life transition and achieve your most important health and fitness goals.

This talk is about choosing a new path—one that lets you navigate menopause or any health challenge with strength, resilience, and confidence.

Stronger with age: Redefining performance through menopause and beyond

You’re not imagining it — your body is changing. And if you’ve hit midlife feeling like your workouts don’t work anymore, you’re not alone.

This is not about slowing down. It’s about leveling up — differently.

In this powerful session, Dr. Julia Moffitt — scientist, athlete, and coach — shares what every active woman needs to know about training through and beyond menopause. As a PhD in physiology and a Western States 100 finisher, Dr. Moffitt combines cutting-edge science with hard-won personal insight to guide aging female athletes in adapting their mindset, movement, and training methods.

You’ll learn:

  • Why your old training plan may no longer be serving you — and what to do instead

  • How to work with your physiology instead of against it

  • The key mindset shifts that unlock performance, recovery, and motivation

  • How to stay active, competitive, and energized through midlife and beyond

Whether you’re a competitive athlete or simply passionate about staying active, this talk will help you reclaim your power, reshape your plan, and realize that the best may still be ahead.

From stress to strength: Reconnect your brain and heart for resilience, energy, and health

You’re juggling career, relationships, and a changing body — and it’s overwhelming. What if the key to feeling better was already within you?

In this empowering and practical session, Dr. Moffitt shares how your body’s built-in “guidance system” — the part that regulates your stress response, mood, and heart health — can be trained to help you thrive during life’s most demanding seasons, including menopause.

When your brain and heart are in sync, you feel calm, focused, and resilient. When they fall out of sync, stress takes the wheel — and long-term health risks climb.

Drawing on over two decades of scientific research in physiology, Dr. Moffitt demystifies the science and leaves you with evidence-based tools you can use right away.

You’ll walk away with:

  • A clear understanding of how your “autopilot” system affects stress, mood, and energy

  • Easy daily practices to reset your stress response and boost resilience

  • Evidence-based insights on protecting your brain and heart for the long haul

This is not just another talk on stress. It’s a fresh, empowering perspective on how to work with your body — not against it — to feel strong, clear, and well.

Julie is a dynamic and trustworthy speaker who cuts through the noise in a world where women’s health is too often marketed to rather than supported. While many try to profit from women at every life stage with gimmicks and unproven products, Julie offers something far more valuable: evidence-based guidance rooted in scientific consensus. Her talks don’t just inform — they empower women to take control of their health with confidence and clarity.
